Woods and Oliver are foster brothers trying to become doctors, following in the footsteps of their father, King, a prominent surgeon. The brothers also love the same woman, tall, blonde Muir. King's biological son, Oliver, is a rakehell, whose lack of self-confidence drives him to drink and to blame Woods for the death of a patient, causing Woods' expulsion from the medical profession. But Oliver admits his mistake and Woods is taken back into the world of medicine and wins the hand of Muir. Plot is a predictable tale of the struggles of a devoted doctor with no new insights to offer. Woods gives a good performance in a role that is too cliche-ridden to allow him to show his abilities. Another in a long series of disappointing B pictures for beautiful, warmhearted Muir, whose talents continued to be wasted in Hollywood. The year of ONCE A DOCTOR's release, she left Tinseltown and temporarily returned to the New York stage, where she had begun her career. leave a comment
