Intriguing crime drama has Harker as a reformed safecracker whose former partner, Lee, sent to prison for shooting a cop, wants to get even with him. Lee's plan of attack is to set up Harker's son on a phony rap, using his daughter as bait. The son, Cusack, becomes attracted to the life of crime, having the same talents at opening a safe as his father had. But the daughter winds up falling for Cusack and points the finger at her own father to shield him. Script is shaky in spots, but sound direction by the efficient maker of family films, Mason, moves the story along. Comical Harker, always good as cop or crook, and Howard of the eccentric acting style, stately and always strange of gesture, stand out in this droll little story. leave a comment
