On Again--Off Again

1937, Movie, NR, 60 mins

A fair Woolsey-Wheeler comedy in which the two comedians are partners in a pill factory. The always-quarreling businessmen decide to settle their differences by agreeing to hold a wrestling match, the winner of which gets to run the company for a year, making the loser serve as his valet. From there the laughs are derived from typical master-servant bits that are funny, but nothing special. The same story was filmed in 1918 as A PAIR OF SIXES, then again as a musical, QUEEN HIGH, in 1930. Songs incude: "Thanks to You" and "One Happy Family" (Dave Dreyer, Herman Ruby). leave a comment
