On The Yard

An effective attempt to realistically portray prison life, ON THE YARD focuses on four inmates, with Waites portraying the acknowledged leader of the prisoners. Heard is a convicted wife murderer, Kellin is a habitual criminal who has spent more time in jail than out, and Grifasi is Waites's errand boy. The film offers revealing portraits of the leads and succeeds in providing a compelling examination of the relationships and how they are shaped by the prison environment.
