On The Double

Very funny Kaye comedy which sees the star as a lowly GI stationed in England during WW II shortly before the invasion of Normandy. One day he is caught impersonating England's most important battle commander (for whom he is an exact double) for laughs, and the military intelligence community decides to use him to confuse the Nazis as to the whereabouts of the general. Kaye agrees to the assignment and manages to fool the general's loyal chauffeur Dors into believing he is actually the general. He is not so lucky with Wynter, the estranged wife of the general, but she agrees to keep quiet for the good of the country. When the real general is killed in a plane crash...
