Mississippi River tale starring Richards as a low-level hoodlum who is framed for murder by his boss and sentenced to be hanged. The execution never happens, however, because the mighty Mississippi overflows its banks and sends everyone scurrying for shelter, which enables Richards to
escape from his guard. Suddenly Morley appears, announcing she is Richard's wife and they flee the flood to a genteel southern plantation where they are treated hospitably until the real killer, Ciannelli, tracks the pair down. When the river threatens to sweep them all away, Richards sees his
opportunity, captures the gangster, and brings him to justice.
