Low-budget production of the Charles Dickens classic which pales in comparison to the 1948 and 1968 British versions. Five-year-old cherub Moore makes a less-than-successful Oliver Twist, due to his youth and his obvious lack of the range required for the part. Pichel is fine as Fagin, but
Boyd's (not Hopalong Cassidy, but a different actor) Bill Sikes is underwhelming. A competent, if uninspired effort, it spawned a short Dickens craze among the Hollywood studios.
