Old Man Rhythm

1935, Movie, NR, 74 mins

The song "There's Nothing Like a College Education" sums up this musical campus farce which has father Barbier enroll in the college his son, Rogers, is attending. He plans to keep an eye on the boy's romantic activities. Rogers falls into gold digger Bradley's trap, but in the end she leaves him upon learning that the family fortune has been drained in a bad business deal. Lots of mediocre musical numbers pad this otherwise dull comedy. Songs by Johnny Mercer and Lewis Gensler include: "Old Man Rhythm," "I Never Saw a Better Night," "There's Nothing Like a College Education," "Boys Will Be Boys," "When You Are in My Arms," and "Come the Revolution, Baby." leave a comment
