In Old California

Set in California after the Gold Rush, this picture has Wayne cast as a pharmacist who meets up with dance-hall queen Barnes and her husband-to-be, Dekker. It is soon discovered by Wayne that Dekker is a dishonest gunman who greedily rules the neighboring ranchers. With Wayne posing a threat to his profits, Dekker exchanges some of Wayne's tonic for poison, leading to the death of a local resident. An angry mob nearly lynches Wayne, but not before he is able to prove his innocence and nail Dekker.
