Mildly interesting drama starring Shire as a clinical psychologist who, after a failed suicide attempt, decides to relive her past by finding her old boy friends. The trip takes her across the country where she meets Jordan, her college heartthrob, now a documentary filmmaker. From there she finds Belushi, her high school sweetheart, now the leader of a rock 'n' roll band, whom she humiliates in revenge for the humiliation he subjected her to in the past. Eventually she makes her way back to her hometown to find her first childhood crush. To her surprise, he has died, and she is consoled by his brother, Carradine. All the performances are fine, but the script as written by Paul and Leonard Schrader is as lifeless as it is pointless. Director Tewkesbury, with her first feature after having worked extensively with Robert Altman (she wrote NASHVILLE), does not seem to have a handle on the story, though she provides some insightful and interesting moments along the way. leave a comment
