A fine, fast-paced international thriller in which a reporter (Jon Voight) attempts to track down SS men who mysteriously vanished after the war. He begins his search for a Nazi who has gone into hiding (Maximilian Schell), but his investigation is sidetracked by members of Odessa, a secret cabal of former Nazis who realize he poses a serious threat to their existence.
