A nudie comedy that casts Noonan (as the bolt?) who agrees to help out a trio of nuts--Van Doren, Gilbert, and Cronin--who need psychiatric advice but can't afford it. The idea is that unemployed actor Noonan can act out all three personalities in one session with a psychiatrist and can get all the help the three need for one-third the price of three sessions. His zany performance is transmitted, on the doctor's closed-circuit television, to other doctors around the world and somehow appears on a nationwide telecast. A Hollywood producer sees the nutty goings-on and buys the screen rights to the "show" for $100,000, putting the three nuts and wacky Noonan on easy street. Principle nudie segments are of stripper Van Doren, as she bumps and grinds her delicious torso in a torrid strip and as she takes a beer bath. Rodann, as the doctor, also displays a few French-postcard shots of herself. These segments basically are what THREE NUTS IN SEARCH OF A BOLT is all about. Includes the anthem "I Used to Be a Stripper Down on Main, Now I'm the Main Attraction on the Strip" (Pony Sherrell, Phil Moody). Noonan previously made PROMISES, PROMISES with Jayne Mansfield and before that starred with Marilyn Monroe in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES. Art director Ballard went on to direct THE BLACK STALLION. leave a comment
