Jack Smight is a stylish director who can be superior when he has the right script. This time around, Smight tries his best to get a movie out of a thin script but fails. It's another cops-and-dopers movie not unlike so many these days. Nick Berzak (Robert Carradine) and Frank Hazeltine (Billy Dee Williams) are the cops who will go to any lengths to make a bust, using the same against-the-rules tactics that can be seen weekly on reruns of "Mod Squad" or "Starsky and Hutch."
