An unraveled ending hurts this film about a perfect crime. Bickford is the scorned man whose marriage proposal is turned down by Vinson. To gain revenge, he plots to kill her lover, Blackmer, and implicate Vinson. He succeeds on all counts but then, in a seemingly gallant gesture, takes the blame for the murder to protect the girl.
