This substandard rip-off of HOUSE OF WAX (itself a remake of MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM) features the ubiquitous Mitchell as the badly scarred, psychotic owner of a wax museum who abducts the stars of a movie studio as revenge for his disfigurement. (He was injured by the studio head during an argument over a pretty actress.) Mitchell, of course, doesn't just kill his victims and dump their bodies in the river; he injects them with a suspended-animation formula and then uses them as exhibits. Eventually this scheme is figured out (all the cops have to do is make the obviously unstatuesque actors blink or twitch, which they can clearly be seen doing, despite editing), and Mitchell gets his comeuppance at the hands of his waxy victims. Amateurish in all respects, this movie will probably interest only die-hard Mitchell fans. Filmed at Movieland Wax Museum in Los Angeles. leave a comment
