The Night Stalker: Review

Any similarity between this and the interesting TV series starring Darren McGavin is unintentional and ends with the title. Sommers (Robert Zdar) is the killer, a muscular giant who seems to be able to repel bullets as he strangles various streetwalkers. He's pursued by Sgt. J.J. Striker (Charles Napier), a tired cop who spends more time with Jack Daniels than he does at his desk. Sommers' modus operandi is to choke the living daylights out of the women, then decorate their bodies with Chinese writing. Striker keeps after the killer because he's frightened that his girl friend, Rene (Michelle Reese), a prostitute, may be next. The problem with THE NIGHT STALKER is that director Max Kleven doesn't hold a firm enough grip on the actors, resulting in a loss of reality. Look for better work from him in the future as he has a sharp eye and a knack for action. leave a comment
