The Night Digger

This film has all the makings of a gothic horror classic--a psychopathic rapist and a blind woman who is watched over by her middle-aged spinster daughter in their Victorian mansion. But what develops is a love affair between Neal, the daughter, and Clay, the psychotic young handyman for the woman's estate. Clay is being protected by Neal while the police search for him. This gives Neal, who has never had much of her own life because of her invalid mother, her moment to defy convention in the name of true love. Players give excellent portrayals, but the picture is lacking in both setting and direction.
