Working from the same play (Arthur Schnitzler's "Reigen") as Max Ophul's cunningly witty and gracefully charming LA RONDE (1950), Vanderbes and Nuchtern threw away all the substance to create this wretched, boring depiction of the seedy side of Manhattan night life.
