NEW YEAR'S DAY is part of the continuing story that director Henry Jaglom began with 1985's ALWAYS, in which he fictionalized his breakup with his wife. In 1988's SOMEONE TO LOVE, Jaglom went looking for a date, and in NEW YEAR'S DAY he comes, alone, to New York looking for a fresh start.
