Just an excuse for another song-and-dance revue with a very thin story line. Cowan plays a crooked producer out to make a deliberate flop and in this manner pocket all the excess money he has been given by his backers. (The same idea was later used for the story line of Mel Brooks' THE PRODUCERS.) NEW FACES OF 1937 gives the audience a chance to watch numerous auditions, as well as the final show.
