The last of the once-promising Hildegarde Withers/Oscar Piper murder mysteries that had disintegrated into a silly, even stupid, series of inept whodunits. The film opens with the backstage murder of a press agent and then segues into the onstage killing of an actor. Tough cop Gleason runs
down the obvious clues and routine suspects, while Pitts sniffs out the real, most unlikely killer.
