National Barn Dance

"National Barn Dance" was for many years a popular radio show that spotlighted the talents of various country musicians, produced by WLS radio in Chicago. The film offers a fictionalized account of how the program originated, with Quigley playing a promoter who tries to sell the idea of a radio show to ad agency owner Benchley. Benchley wants something with hillbilly entertainers and Quigley heads south to find them. He discovers Lulu Belle and Scotty, the three Dinning Sisters, the Hoosier Hot Shots, Pat Buttram, and Joe Kelly, and flies them all to Chicago, but Benchley has changed his mind.
