Cinematic minimalism offered by French playwright and novelist Duras. For the most part Duras simply points her camera and lets it record the words and actions (or inactions) of Bose, her friend Moreau, and a few others who wander into their lives. Moreau spends a lot of time burning
branches, and Bose expresses some concerns about her daughter Valerie Mascolo. A visit from a washing machine salesman proves to be the film's high point. Enough said. (In French; English subtitles.)
