The music is the only worth remembering about in this daft picture about a New York couple, Carroll and Maxwell, who take a trip to Nashville. They meet country singer Robbins when their car stalls, and he gives them a pair of tickets to the Grand Ole Opry. Thinking that they are off to the opera, they use the tickets, but are shocked to find casually dressed good-ol-boys and knee-slapping country fiddlin'. Aghast, Maxwell returns to New York, but Carroll allows herself to be caught up in music. The feudin' couple reconcile by the finale, but not before an almost endless parade of country & western stars goes by. Songs include "Jody Special," "Play Off" (Cousin Jody), "Hey Joe" (Boudleaux Bryant), "Deep Water" (Fred Rose), "White Lightning" (J.P. Richardson), "Stand By Your Man" (Billy Sherrill, Tammy Wynette), "Walk Through This World with Me" (Sandra Seamons, Kay Savage), "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad" (Sherrill, Glenn Sutton), "Wild Weekend," "A Happy State of Mind" (Bill Anderson), "I've Got a Tiger By the Tail" (Buck Owens, Harlan Howard), "Act Naturally" (Johnny Russell, Vonie Morrison), "It's Such a Pretty World Today" (Dale Noe), "Branded Man," "Hungry Eyes" (Merle Haggard), "Today I Start Loving You Again" (Bonnie Owens, Haggard), "Lead Me On" (Leon Copeland), "Kaw Liga" (Fred Rose, Hank Williams), "Cotton Fields" (The Jordanaires), "Walking in the Sunshine" (Roger Miller), "Granada" (Agustin Lara), "I'll Be a Legend in My Time" (Don Gibson), "Hello Daily News" (Jim Easterby), "Singin' the Blues" (Melvin Endsley), "Crystal Chandelier" (Ted Harris), "The Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight" (Buddy Mize), "Spoke in the Wheel" (Clay Boland, Bix Reichner), "The Green Green Grass of Home" (Claude Putnam, Jr.). leave a comment
