Writer-director Jared Hess may have little previous filmmaking experience, but he's clearly got "skills": His first feature is one of the most original and quirkily endearing debuts in years. Imperfectly socialized teenager Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder) and his even geekier older brother, Kip (Aaron Ruell), live in a small ranch house in Preston, Idaho. With his waistband hiked high above his hips and his pant legs tucked into his moon boots, Napoleon is every dork who's ever been pounded by a dodgeball or shoved into a locker.
