A remake of IT'S A DATE (1940), which starred Deanna Durbin, NANCY GOES TO RIO features Sothern and Powell as a mother and daughter vying for the same part in a play and the same man--Sullivan. Sothern goes to Rio to ready herself for a part in a new play and Powell follows, revealing the
news that she got the part. The conflict is intensified with the mistaken belief that Powell is pregnant. In the end, Powell gets the part and Sothern gets Sullivan. The cast is uniformly good, with Calhern supplying some humor as Sothern's father, and it all amounts to pleasant entertainment.
