MGM wasn't a studio known for film noir, but this taut, well-paced thriller, shot in a semidocumentary style with the kind of moody black-and-white cinematography associated with the genre, certainly qualifies. Edmon Ryan stars as a proper — and properly married — Bostonian who takes up with floozy Jan Sterling. Needless to say, it ends in murder. Also starring Ricardo Montalban and Elsa Lanchester.
