Mudie. This is a well-crafted thriller, sparsely written and to the point. The direction makes the most of the London setting, creating suspense through the use of a foggy atmosphere. Well paced, with believable performances. The romance between Montgomery and Allan (as the daughter of the head of
Scotland Yard) is out of place, but it never detracts from the plot.
