This slapdash version of the famed story follows its plot line fairly closely, save for some updating involving radiation poisoning in order to work in the popular nuclear element. Civil war survivors balloon to an uncharted island where they are assisted by Captain Nemo (Sharif), the only box-office draw in the credits.
