The fifth film based on the popular "Whistler" radio series finds private eye Dix battling the cops in trying to solve a murder. It seems some homicides have taken place in a race for rare recordings wanted by a Swedish millionaire. Though routine in plot, this is a well-paced film with
some good moments of suspense. At one point Dix feels his way through a dark, abandoned house searching for the killer. The direction keeps the audience on edge, with a good nervous laugh thrown in as well while Dix gropes in the darkness. Though classically hard-boiled, Dix's characterization has
