After writing elaborate tales to his war correspondent son (Allen), Karns finds himself in hot water when he receives a telegram announcing Allen's coming visit. With the help of Rosenbloom, as well as ex-wife Kelly, Karns manages to pull off a successful war bond drive. Allen arrives
thinking Dad's a great local hero and all ends happily. Kelly, as usual, is very funny and Rosenbloom's mugging is good fun. But the film suffers from lackluster direction with no feel for comedy. Consequently this off-the-wall story just doesn't ring true. Weaknesses within the script aren't
compensated for and the film ends up being a minor and disappointing programmer.
