After retiring from the police force, Robertson entertains the notion that his son (Baxter) might carry on the tradition. Baxter ends up in the cops and robbers business all right, but on the wrong side of the law. Robertson sadly comes out of retirement to capture his son. The somewhat
cliched characters are fleshed out with some well-written dialog and a fine ensemble performance. The direction is brisk and sensitive to Robertson's confusions.
