This musical version of the hit Broadway play has virtually the same story as the 1942 film. The actors this time include Bob Fosse, who also choreographs and dances, and Jack Lemmon, charming in the first of several films he was to do with director Richard Quine. The plot once again
follows a series of incidents and complications in the lives of a pair of sisters (Betty Garrett and Janet Leigh) who come to New York from Ohio and wind up in what must be the busiest apartment in the city. It's a fast-moving version of the play with songs that add greatly to the fun provided by
the crackling dialogue and good performances.
