My Friend Irma Goes West

Better than the original film, this sequel based on the popular radio show has pretty much the same cast all heading out West to try their luck in the movie business. Lewis just about carries the film with his zany antics, including an amusing bit with a plate of spaghetti and a scene where he apes a chimp. The rest of the "Irma" cast is there but seems to take a back seat to the two clowns. Some good direction and production values make this a nice little comedy. The songs include: "Baby, Obey Me," "I'll Always Love You," "Querida Mia," "Fiddle and Gittar Band" (Jay Livingston, Ray Evans, sung by Dean Martin), and "Love You" (Livingston, Evans, sung by Martin, Corinne Calvet). leave a comment
