Carson plays a radio talent scout looking for the next big sensation. He takes girl-next-door type Day and transforms her into a major star. That's about it for plot in this Technicolor remake of the 1934 Dick Powell film TWENTY MILLION SWEETHEARTS. Though competently made and well-acted, the film is trite and well below the talents of all involved. The highlight is a dream sequence in which Day cavorts with Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird. Songs include: "My Dream Is Yours," "Some Like You," "Tic, Tic, Tic," "Love Finds a Way" (Ralph Freed, Harry Warren), "I'll String Along with You" (Al Dubin, Warren), "Canadian Capers" (Gus Chandler, Bert White, Henry Cohen, Earl Burtnett), "Freddie Get Ready" (to the tune of the "Hungarian Rhapsody II"), "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby," "Jeepers, Creepers" (Johnny Mercer, Warren), "Nagasaki" (Mort Dixon, Warren), "With Plenty of Money and You" (Dubin, Warren). leave a comment
