Murphy's Law: Review

Jack Murphy (Charles Bronson) is a detective who finds himself framed for the murder of his estranged stripper wife and her lover. The real malefactor is Joan Freeman (Carrie Snodgress), a psychopath he sent to an asylum 10 years before and who is now out looking for revenge. Murphy is arrested for the murders and handcuffed to foul-mouthed punk pixie Arabella McGee (Kathleen Wilhoite). When he escapes, she is along for the ride while Murphy tries to figure out who's gunning for him. There is nothing very original about the film except Snodgress as one of the first female psycho killers in memory. Unfortunately, no one else in the film is nearly as interested in creating a character. Bronson seems bored by the whole thing; even his own plight fails to ruffle his composure. Wilhoite makes a good foil for Bronson, and the rapport between the two is the most entertaining thing in the film. leave a comment
