An entry in the "Charlie Chan" mystery series has the Asian sleuth arriving in New York City to attend a police convention. On his arrival he is told about sabotage and murders involving the airplane industry. Toler begins unraveling the mystery--no thanks to his bumbling son Yung. The junior sleuth is a humorous annoyance for his father but eventually ends up helping to solve the crime. The culprit is revealed to be the leader of a spy ring, whom Toler exposes while all the culprits are airborne in a new bomber. Plenty of pseudo-culprits along the way keep the audience guessing, and Worlock, as a British Intelligence man, gets killed in the proceedings. Standard production values and characterizations for the Chan series that fans undoubtedly will enjoy. This picture tied in with real-life sabotage activities of foreign agents during the 1940s. leave a comment
