Murder In Mississippi

A tasteless exploitation film that attempts to capitalize on the controversy over the civil rights movement in the South. Taking place in Mississippi (though the film was shot in Philadelphia) the film focuses on a group of civil rights workers (three black, two white) who become victims of rapes, beatings, kidnapings, and killings perpetrated by the less progressive members of the community, including the sheriff. It's obvious that the producers couldn't have cared less about the actual civil rights movement but saw a chance to use the newspaper headlines as free advertising for this exploitative endeavor. leave a comment
