An average, although entertaining "Michael Shayne" mystery casts Beaumont as a detective chasing heavies, Talbot and Meeker. Beaumont plays his part at a low-key level (not unlike his later role as Ward Cleaver on TV's "Leave It to Beaver"). The supporting cast is also strong, considering the B-picture elements. Subtle humor is contained within the murder/blackmail story line. leave a comment
