Furlong is an ex-con who finds work on a Missouri farm owned by Lancaster. He becomes involved with the farmer's niece, Cristiani, and soon has to answer to her sadistic husband, Hopper. Furlong is pushed into several situations in which violence could occur but he backs down, leaves Cristiani, and turns to prostitutes.
