The third and, hopefully, the final version of the 1901 book, this picture didn't come up to the standards of the 1934 movie which featured W.C. Fields and ZaSu Pitts in the roles that Herbert and Vague took here. The story remains essentially the same with very little deviation from the
earlier script. Bainter is the redoubtable Mrs. Wiggs, living in the poverty-stricken area known as "The Cabbage Patch" with her five children, Carolyn Lee, Switzer, Brewer, Thomas, and Billy Lee. Vague is the next door neighbor who meets Herbert through an ad in a matrimonial magazine. Switzer
