When I was very young I ...

Question: When I was very young I watched a movie about a teacher who was dying, and in it you saw how she had changed the lives of the students she had taught over the years. I loved it, but I have no idea who was in it or what the name was. I would love to show it to my children, but no one I've described it to has any idea of what I'm talking about.

Answer: I'm sure the movie you're looking for is Good Morning, Miss Dove (1955), with Jennifer Jones as a small-town New England schoolteacher whose lifelong influence reached far beyond her classroom. You're not the first person who's asked about it, but I only recently figured out what the film was. So I hope everyone who's asked me over the years is reading now. That said, as far as I can tell, it's never been commercially available on video, let alone DVD. I've seen it listed on eBay and sites like Robert's Hard to Find Videos as coming in plain packaging, which generally means it's been taped from television.
