Twilight Star Packing on Pounds to Land Sequel Role

Taylor Lautner

Rumors have been running rampant that Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who played Jacob Black, will be replaced in the sequel, New Moon,  so the 16-year-old actor is doing what anyone in his position would — campaigning with a more mature look.

"I have been working out. I've been working out since the day we finished filming Twilight. I just weighed myself today; I've put on 19 pounds," the new beefy Lautner told MTV, assuring the network he'll be filled-out enough to fit Stephenie Meyer's physical description of Jacob Black in New Moon when filming starts in three months.

"I'm guaranteeing [director Chris] Weitz 10 more [pounds] by filming," Lautner said. "I get to meet Chris on Friday, in two days, so I'm excited. I'm going to have lunch with him."

The actor also addressed the reports of Scorpion King 2's Michael Copon's recent Facebook status updates claiming he's the new Jacob.

"I've heard a few things," he said of Copon. "I don't really know too much to comment on it. As far as I know, I haven't been told 'no' yet, so it's still all up in the air."

Do you think Lautner should play the older Jacob?
