The Rite Leads Slow Box Office Weekend

The exorcism thriller The Rite topped a slow weekend at the movies, Box Office Mojo reports.

The film starring Anthony Hopkins nabbed $15 million in its first week. Last week's No. 1, No Strings Attached, fell to second with an estimated $13.7 million.

No Strings Attached claims top spot at the box office

The weekend's other new film, The Mechanic starring Jason Statham, tied with The Green Hornet for third place. Both films grossed $11.5 million.

The King's Speech finished fifth with $11.1 million after earning a leading 12 Academy Award nominations. True Grit, which drew 10 nominations, came in at No. 6 with $7.6 million, bringing its six-week total to more than $148 million.

Buddy comedy The Dilemma sold $5.5 million worth of tickets, to rank seventh for the weekend.

Rounding out the top 10: Black Swan (No. 8, $5.1 million),The Fighter  (No. 9, $4.1 million) and Yogi Bear (No. 10, $3.1 million).
