Question: Are Rhea Perlman and Ron Perlman related? — Kitten

Flickchick: Although Rhea Perlman and Ron Perlman are both native New Yorkers, they're not related to each other. But minor character actor Philip Perlman is Rhea's father. The diminutive Rhea was born in Brooklyn, and has worked extensively in television and theater, with occasional forays into movies. She is probably best known as waitress Carla from TV's long-running Cheers, and is married to Danny DeVito. Rhea's father was a doll- and toy-part salesman; he emigrated to the U.S. from Poland in 1922 and married his wife, Adele, in 1946. After his retirement in 1986, Rhea's dad played small parts on Cheers and in several movies, mostly ones with which DeVito was involved. Ron, who's 6-foot-2, was raised in the uptown Washington Heights section of Manhattan and is probably best known as the soulful beast from the cult TV series Beauty and the Beast (1987-1990). His late father was a radio and TV repairman and musician who worked as a drummer with Swing musician Artie Shaw's band, and his mother, Dorothy, worked for the New York City Department of Health.
