It's Jason's Lucky Day as Friday the 13th Tops Box Office

Friday the 13th

Jason-Jason-Jason ... kill-kill-killed the competition at the box office, as Friday the 13th (starring Supernatural's Jared Padalecki) earned $42.2 million in its opening weekend. That marks a record debut for a horror pic, besting the $39.1 mil scared up by The Grudge. (With prices adjusted, however, the 2004 chiller sold more tickets.)

Falling to second was He's Just Not That Into You, with a haul of $19.6 million.

Rounding out the weekend's top five were Taken (taking in another $19.3 million), Confessions of a Shopaholic (opening with $15.4 mil) and Coraline ($15.3 mil).
