Denzel Washington will take on the post-apocalyptic landscape in the new thriller
The Book of Eli,
The Hollywood Reporter reports.
The two-time Oscar winner will also produce the project, along with Joel Silver, Susan Downey and Alcon Entertainment's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Allen and Albert Huges will direct.
Based on a story by Gary Whitta, with a screenplay by Anthony Peckham, the film follows the plight of a lone futuristic action hero (Washington) as he attempts to save a dilapidated America - with knowledge.
Production starts in January in New Mexico. A release date has not been set. -
