Box Office: Christmases Gets an Early Gift, Punisher Trails Behind and More

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon, Four Christmases

Thanksgiving may have just gone by, but audiences were feeling Christmasy already — in their movie tastes, at least.

The Vince Vaughn-Reese Witherspoon rom-com Four Christmases topped the box office in its second weekend in theaters with $18.2 million, Variety reports. It was followed by other recent openers Twilight, which was second with $13.2 mil; Disney's Bolt, which was third with $9.7 mil and Fox's Australia, which galloped into fourth place with $7 mil. Quantum of Solace, meanwhile, still gunned for vitality at number five.

Newcomer Punisher: War Zone — the third installment of the big-screen versions of the comic series — fought its way to eighth place, with $4 mil (less than a third of what the first Punisher earned in its first weekend). The flick stars Rome alum Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle, a high-powered vigilante.

Music biopic Cadillac Records slipped in right behind War Zone with $3.5 mil. The period piece stars Adrien Brody and Beyonce.

Indie flick Frost/Nixon, meanwhile, proved it had more than political prowess with $180,000 in earnings on just three screens. The film will arrive in more theaters in the weeks to come.

Which movies did you go out to see this weekend? Which ones did you pass on?
