Tom Cruise's Next Vehicle May Make Him a Tourist

Tom Cruise is in talks with Spyglass Entertainment to star in a remake of The Tourist, a 2005 French thriller. Nothing has been solidified, Variety says, but it seems likely that the film will be Cruise's next big move.

Bharat Nalluri ( Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) will direct the film, which centers on an American tourist - but not the camera-toting, Bermuda-shorts-wearing kind. The movie's title protagonist gets caught up in a life-threatening situation when an Interpol agent uses him to nab an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair.

If Cruise does sign on for the flick, it will be his latest vehicle since Valkyrie. The Bryan Singer-directed drama will be out even sooner than expected - according to Variety, the flick got bumped back from a February '09 release to December 26. Now, we can all have Cruise for the holidays. - Anna Dimond
