Iron Man vs. Speed Racer: Start Your Engines

It's Man vs. machine. After racking up a cool $104 million in its domestic opening weekend, Iron Man is poised to hold onto the top box office spot, even with competition from Speed Racer, opening today.

At least one advance ticket retailer indicates the battle for No. 1 could be tight.

As of Friday morning, Fandango reports Iron Man accounts for 33 percent of advance sales, while newcomer Speed Racer checks in at 32 percent.

While each movie is geared toward the same audience ( Speed Racer probably offers four gears), critics have been cool toward the Emile Hirsch-driven action flick.
